Enough Manure Contributes to Stable Yield

As most private farmers, Mr. Bukovjan has been following the tradition of farming in his family. “I grew up in a farming family. My parents started managing 24 hectares in 1993. Today, I manage 72 hectares, including 32 hectares of meadows and pastures because I have a herd of Charolais beef cattle counting about 60 animals”, Mr. Bukovjan explains.

The soil in the municipalities where Mr. Bukovjan farms is mostly light and fertile. His seeding plan includes crops such as poppies, wheat, potatoes, triticale or alfalfa. “I try to rotate the alfalfa field every three years. Its root system contributes to a good soil condition, it provides soil with nutrients and organic matter. Also, enough manure contributes to stable yield; I distribute manure to the fields every year”, Mr. Bukovjan says.

A New Seed Drill with Higher Efficiency

Mr. Bukovjan decided to purchase the new OMEGA OO 3000L seed drill in 2021 after his prior experience with testing the OMEGA OO_L machine with a working width of 4 metres. He purchased the new seed drill with the disc section as a replacement for a mounted seed drill with a rotary harrow.

“When choosing a new machine, I did a lot of research on the websites and looked at the machines available on the market. I wanted a quality seed drill. I asked for some recommendations regarding the equipment during the machine specification. It includes, for example, aggressive discs that work great in a depth of 3 to 4 cm. I use the front paddle levelling board for levelling any unevenness and the rear one for additional clod crushing. The calibration, the set seeding amount and the quality of seeding are very precise. I manage to sow about two hectares per hour with a 150 HP tractor. I use the seed drill in my own fields as well as in services, on about 200 hectares per season”, Mr. Bukovjan adds.
