A yellowing yard after a good first experience with BEDNAR

“In 2019, we were looking for a new disc cultivator to replace our old one, from a competing brand. We turned to our dealer, Pm-Pro, who let us try out the SWIFTERDISC XO 6000 F, a machine that was not so popular in the region at the time. After this test, we decided to purchase it, a very good decision.

We chose the SWIFTERDISC XO 6000 F, in its 6-meter version, because we wanted to increase our daily outputs compared with our previous 5-meter cultivator. The machine is equipped with aggressive 520 mm diameter discs, the V-RING double roller and the ALFA DRILL seeding unit, ideal for easy cover seeding.

Since we bought the machine, we’ve been using it very regularly. Today, it has become a central equipment of our farm. Every year, it cultivates almost 1,000 hectares, in a wide variety of conditions. The ALFA DRILL seeding unit makes the cover crops seedings very easy. We generally seed a mix of radish, mustard and blue grass, and get a very good emergence. We also use the SWIFTERDISC for first and second stubble cultivation, after beet harvesting and for crushing cover crops at the end of the season. We like this stubble cultivator for its high throughputs, from 7 to 8 hectares per hour, working at an average speed of 15 km/h. The double roller provides great stability at high speeds. It would be possible to work with the machine at 20 km/h without any problem,” says Bruno.

“We used to seed only with our seed drill combination before. However, for more throughputs and more versatility, especially in dry conditions, we purchased an OMEGA OO 4000 FERTI, this year. We bought this drill from a local farmer, who had ordered it new in 2019 and wanted to replace it by the 6-meter version. For the purchase of this second seed drill, we couldn’t afford a new machine. This second-hand was in this way the perfect solution.

So far, we’ve only seeded 30 hectares of cereals, just to try it out. When I bought it, I didn’t think I’d be using the coulters section, fitted with PROFI coulters, but this has proved to be very effective in fine-tuning the soil surface. We’re going to continue seeding cereals with this drill, and will try it out with alfalfa. This new purchase should enable us to be more versatile and efficient, the big disadvantages of our seed drill combination,” Indicates the farmer.
