10 REASONS FOR THE ROW-MASTER CULTIVATOR

The inter-row cultivation of wide-row crops, or weeding, is an operation that was already largely used in the fields by our grandfathers. However, people gradually left this method as the use of chemical preparations expanded. Due to the increasingly stricter legislation and restrictions in the use of herbicides, weeding is coming back to life.

Every good farmer knows that weeding is not only about eliminating weeds, but it also considerably contributes to other processes and positively stimulates crop during vegetation.

TWO VERSIONS OF THE INTER-ROW CULTIVATOR

Our product portfolio includes two versions of inter-row cultivators for this operation: the versatile ROW-MASTER RN and the ROW-MASTER RN_S cultivator designed for sugar beet. Let’s have a look at ten technical advantages that BEDNAR inter-row cultivators bring to their users when compared with the competition.

1. ROBUST FRAME

Both versions of the machine have a massive square frame where the cultivation working units are mounted. In comparison with other manufacturers, the increased robustness of BEDNAR cultivators bring two advantages to the users: a longer service life and higher resistance at work, even in demanding conditions.

2. HIGH FRAME CLEARANCE

Frame clearance considerably influences the use of cultivators during vegetation. The universal ROW-MASTER RN cultivator model offers a frame clearance of 80 cm and thus it is one of the cultivators on the market with the highest frame clearance. Weeding corn and sunflower fields at a later growth stage is an advantage. The ROW-MASTER RN_S cultivator has a frame clearance of 42 cm, which is sufficient for cultivating sugar beet crop.

3. DOWN PRESSURE OF THE CULTIVATION UNITS

Quality weeding requires the cultivation unit working at the set working depth and penetrating soil even when it is dry. BEDNAR uses silent-block mounting of the cultivation units in the inter-row cultivators, which increases the down pressure by up to 80 kg per unit. Moreover, the moulded silent-block pins absorb shocks into the supporting frame and thus increase the service life of the machine.

Some competitors do not pay attention to the down pressure of the cultivation units at all; others use springs which, however, stretch over time and have to be replaced.

4. PERFECT TERRAIN TRACING

The individual working units are mounted to the main frame using a maintenance-free parallelogram hitch. We have had a good experience with the parallelogram in many machines as it helps keep the set working depth precisely. The working depth can be set individually for each cultivation unit.

5. PRECISE GUIDANCE

The ROW-MASTER cultivators can be equipped with automatic guidance of the cultivator in the row on request. The CultiCam camera is able to even read plants with tiny leaves and so it provides a high guiding accuracy, and thus achieving a higher travelling speed and labour efficiency. With this equipment, the sliding frame is equipped with a hydraulic piston rod that guides the machine precisely in the vegetation based on the received information. Besides the hydraulic piston rod, the sliding frame does not differ from the standard fixed frame; it is not equipped with any “intermediate piece”, typical in machines by other manufacturers.

Thanks to that, the machine is closer to the tractor, has a lower total weight, and can be aggregated with less powerful tractors. The RN models also allow for a side shift by 40 cm on both sides; the side shift in RN_S models is 25 cm on both sides.

6. EXCHANGEABLE WORKING SECTIONS

The ROW-MASTER cultivator can be easily adjusted to the operation thanks to replaceable working sections according to the primary use of the machine for weeding, removing dry matter or aerating. BEDNAR offers three different versions of the inter-row cultivator.

7. EASY SETTINGS

When developing machines, we also strive to consider their easy operation and high user friendliness. Setting the sweeps, protective screens or rear levellers can all be done without using any tools; all you need is a pin and a cotter.

8. FLAT SUPPORT WHEELS

In the case of the used flat support wheels, it is only a small detail, however, it contributes to the overall service life. We use flat support wheels in BEDNAR inter-row cultivators, which compared to the ring wheels have a longer service life as there is not risk of splitting. The wide wheel keeps the carriage better in light soils, does not get clogged, and cultivation is thus better.

9. FLEXI TINES

The sweeps and chisels of the cultivation unit work on flexi tines made of spring steel. The flexi tine allows movement into three sides, also known as “vibrating”. The fine tine vibrations ensure better material throughput between tines.

10. OPTIONAL SUPPLEMENTARY FERTILIZATION OR SEEDING

Inter-row cultivation is especially beneficial when the plants are supplied with liquid or mineral fertilizer during vegetation. For this operation, the inter-row cultivator can be equipped with an application set that brings distribution from the distribution head to the individual cultivation units, where fertilizer is pneumatically supplied from the front FERTI-BOX FB_F or FERTI-TANK.

The cultivator can also be equipped with the ALFA DRILL seeding unit with a capacity of 400 litres, for example, when applying micro-granulate, or seeding catch crop or other seeds for greening the space between the rows.
