The DoRa organic farm uses a SWIFTERDISC XO_F for seedbed preparation

The SWIFTERDISC XO_F cultivators are very popular with customers thanks to the high versatility of their application. It is not just a mere disc cultivator designed for quick stubble cultivation after harvest. A lot of customers also use the machine for seedbed preparation. We met one of them in the fields near Ratibořice in the Vysočina Region.

FARM FOCUSED ON ECOLOGICAL GOAT BREEDING

In addition to standard plant production, the DoRa organic farm also breeds White Shorthaired goats. There are more than 500 goats in the Ratibořice goathouse. The breeding follows the rules of ecological agriculture. The farm manages a total of 290 hectares of land, out of which 150 hectares are dedicated to ecological farming related to goat breeding, the rest of the land is farmed in the standard conventional system.

TESTING THE MACHINE HELPED THEM MAKE THE DECISION TO PURCHASE IT

Last year, the farm tested a SWIFTERDISC XO_F disc cultivator. They decided to purchase the machine based on the quality of work it performed. The farm fleet thus welcomed the new SWIFTERDISC XO 5000 F cultivator with a working width of five metres. The disc cultivator is used both for stubble cultivation after harvest and for seedbed preparation. The farm cultivates about 350 hectares annually.

“I have had the opportunity to test and work with several disc cultivators during my time working in agriculture. However, none of them were equipped with the A-discs. I used the cultivator for stubble cultivation after oats, the aggressive discs do a beautiful job and they have an excellent cutting effect. You can work with the stubble cultivator at a speed of 13 km/h, also in stubble fields,” operator Tomáš Kratochvíl says.

SWIFTERDISC XO_F IS A VERSATILE DISC CULTIVATOR

We found the cultivator working in heavy soils, preparing the tilled field for winter crop seeding. The field was quite uneven, full of deep furrows. It was prepared in a single pass of the cultivator equipped with a disc section with two rows of aggressive discs and a rear V-RING roller.

“SWIFTERDISC XO_F, it might not look like it, but working with it is great. The disc cultivator is completely hydraulically controlled, from drawbar folding to setting the working depth. I like that it is also equipped with the leveller. When I lower it into the ground, it works perfectly and it levels any unevenness in the field nicely,” Tomáš Kratochvíl says about the cultivator.

STUBBLE CULTIVATOR ALSO SUITABLE FOR LOW-OUTPUT TRACTORS

The stubble cultivator is now aggregated with a tractor that has a nominal output of 145 HP. However, the farm is planning to acquire a more powerful tractor in the future to improve their work. They are also planning to equip the stubble cultivator with a seeding unit for planting catch crop during stubble cultivation.
