Strom mulchers destined to take care of Finnish landscapes

Konefarmi Oy has become Strom partner just a few months ago, however few Strom mulchers MO and MZ have already been delivered to maintain Finnish landscapes. The first MZ 6000 was delivered straight to Petteri Mäkelä’s farm near Hämeenlinna, Finland. Very late and wet spring delayed testing of the machine, however Petteri tried it himself and invited Konefarmi’s personnel to share his impressions. Two journalists from most popular Finnish farming papers and neighboring farmer joined as well.

Konefarmi is the third largest implements’ distributor in Finland achieving annual sale of more than € 25 million. Strom is joining the product portfolio along Pöttinger, McHale, Bergmann, Seko, Unia and others. Mr. Petteri Mäkelä, loyal customer of the company for many years, runs ecological beef cattle farm, one of the biggest in Finland, on 500 ha. He has put an eye on Strom product even before the companies got together, so no surprise that he became the first customer. The machine shall be used to cut remaining grass after grazing, mulch vegetation at set aside fields, fight spread of dandelions by cutting off their flowering heads.

Demonstration started at small field covered by flowering dandelions. Petteri drove the machine slow and fast, higher and lower, demonstrating consistently excellent result. Of course, farmer would not be farmer if he wouldn’t try it to extreme, so bushes and young trees at sides of the field were laid down as well. The change of field to set aside wetland with rich vegetation up to 60-80 cm high has not changed impressions from observers – MZ 6000 is doing perfect job whatever the condition. While journalists were snapping pictures neighbor farmer was already inquiring when a smaller machine fitting his needs could be delivered. Mr.Petteri Mäkelä was not only driving the tractor: at stops he was giving excited and exhaustive presentations on machine construction it’s features and his own experience with it so far. He knew the machine so well that Strom area manager had no need to interfere.

“It was good that I was shown already used machine, when visiting Strom factory in February,” Mr.Petteri Mäkelä said. “I’ve already there got a feeling that it is right choice for me. After using it for a while, cracking stones, taking down trees I am sure I operate the best what I could get.” He added: “I only regret I ordered single wheels on wings because I thought I will work only on nice level fields. Now I take my MZ 6000 everywhere a tractor can get through!”
