What machine in the BEDNAR portfolio to choose for spring soil cultivation?

Spring soil cultivation will take off in a few days. It does not only concern preparation of soil before seeding the spring cereals. The soil cultivation will draw out until the soya crop establishment. The SWIFTER cultivators by BEDNAR have been predominating the market for a long time. However, the machine portfolio has considerably expanded in the past years. Let’s have a look at the technical and agronomic advantages of the individual machines.

VERSATILL VN_L – Mounted Cultivator

A specially designed machine for seedbed cultivation. The tines are arranged in four rows, which provides a spacing of mere 15 cm. VERSATILL VN_L can be equipped with narrow chisels with a width of 50 or 60 mm for opening and processing heavy soil, or with a 200-mm share for all-area cultivation. The high frame clearance allows for trouble-free work even in conditions with larger quantities of crop residue.

A great advantage of the machine is that it can work without the rear packers. Sometimes a three-row leveller is sufficient for levelling soil surface in some conditions.

VERSATILL VO_PROFI – Universal Cultivator

VERSATILL VO_PROFI cultivators have a great design for year-round use, including seedbed cultivation. The tines are arranged in six rows with a spacing of 17 cm. VERSATILL VO_PROFI is ideal for soil preparation before seeding in heavier soils, or when there are large quantities of crop residue.

The front leveller provides quality levelling of the coarse furrow. The leveller after the rear packers helps them to consolidate soil without any further levelling. The outcome is a perfectly levelled field.

KATOR KN – Rotary Harrow

Soil cultivation with the rotary harrow is very popular especially in conditions where mostly tillage cultivation is done. The KATOR KN rotary harrow is a field-tested tool for quality cultivation of heavy soil that is difficult to process (such as clayey soils).

Thanks to the high number of rotors per metre of the working width and active work of the blades, the BEDNAR rotary harrow provides an excellent crumbling effect and an aerated soil layer.

STRIEGEL-PRO – Straw Harrow

Seedbed cultivation is one of the many applications provided by the STRIEGEL-PRO straw harrow. For this operation, we recommend fitting the straw harrow with the front Crushbar leveller, or TURBO coulters, which can be then replaced with leveller segments for the following soil cultivation.

Using the STRIEGEL‑PRO straw harrow for quick soil opening and warming up in spring can considerably speed up the following soil cultivation or seeding operations.

SWIFTER – Seedbed Cultivator

SWIFTER represents a field-tested series of seedbed cultivators suitable for the final seedbed preparation before seeding. The combination of up to eight working parts offers an excellent work result in one pass, fuel savings and considerate soil moisture management.

The high variability of equipment, including a unique working section replacement, makes it possible to adjust the machine to the specific seasonal conditions or to the cultivation requirements of the specific crop.

SWIFTERDISC – Universal Stubble Cultivator

Many customers find the SWIFTERDISC cultivator to be a reliable machine for soil cultivation as well. The small disc diameter (520 or 560 × 5 mm) in combination with a high circumferential speed provide an excellent crumbling effect of the disc section.

The levelling effect is achieved with the front leveller, the working angle of which can be comfortably adjusted to the current conditions from the tractor cabin. The leveller is manufactured for the XO_F, XO_PROFI, XE and XE_PROFI models.
