MATADOR MO seed drill – accurate seeding with a soil-conserving effect for fast, precise and cost-effective establishment

The MATADOR seed drill is designed for conventional full-surface seeding into untilled or tilled soil, as well as for strip-seeding systems. The technology prepares only narrow bands where the seed is placed, while the rest of the field remains covered with crop residues. The soil therefore dries out less, takes up water better, and is less prone to erosion.

The MATADOR tine section with hydraulic AUTO-RESET system protection can loosen the soil down to 35 cm and place fertiliser precisely in the root zone. The two-chamber pressurised hopper with a capacity of 5,000 l ensures accurate metering even at high seeding rates and enables seed and fertiliser to be combined, or several types to be sown at once. This reduces operating costs and limits soil degradation by cutting repeated passes.

ENDLESS VERSATILITY

The MATADOR MO is a highly versatile machine that can be used in different cropping systems for cereals, oilseed rape, soya and more. The working elements can be set for double rows at 12.5 cm with 25 cm spacing. This allows the main crop to be drilled in twin rows with an option for fertilisation, while a companion crop is established in the inter-row. The layout can also be configured for wider twin rows at 25 cm with 50 cm spacing, which suits oilseed rape or soya. The ALFA DRILL seeder further extends the options to include sowing of companion crops, application of microgranulates or bio-agents, increasing the variability and efficiency of the technology. In a single pass the main crop and the companion crop can be established, along with simultaneous placement fertilisation under the seed. The machine also allows standard full-surface seeding into tilled or untilled soil with row spacings of 12.5 cm, 16.7 cm (17.3), 25 cm and 37.5 cm, with fertilisation or microgranulate application.

SOIL-PROTECTIVE TECHNOLOGY

The design of the MATADOR MO seed drill focuses on a gentle approach to the soil and on minimising erosion. The tines disrupt compacted layers without turning the soil over, helping maintain soil structure and capillarity. Zonal loosening supports faster soil warming and promotes uniform germination. Roots can penetrate deeper through the loosened profile to water and nutrient reserves. A hydraulically adjustable disc levelling section behind the tines levels the surface precisely. The double-row tyre packer with an offset arrangement provides high throughput even in moist soil, limits rolling resistance and lowers draft requirements. This soil-conservation system helps retain moisture in the soil, promotes infiltration of rainfall and protects land from degradation

INTUITIVE CONTROL AND DIGITAL SUPPORT

Ease of operation is crucial in modern farming. The MATADOR MO is fully ISOBUS-compatible and equipped with BEDNAR EASY CONTROL software, which provides a clear control interface and supports precision-farming functions. Calibration is simple thanks to the FARM LINK mobile application, which allows the seeding rate and fertiliser dose to be set directly from a phone and recommends the optimal seeding roller according to seed type, target rate and speed.

The MATADOR MO combines strip seeding, targeted fertilising placement and gentle soil cultivation in one efficient working operation. With its versatility in crop establishment, robust construction and intuitive control, it is an ideal solution for businesses seeking modern and economically advantageous seeding technology that delivers long-term yield stability and soil protection.
