DURACUT TE cutting roller – a Modern Solution for Effective Residue Management and Soil Protection

In practice, DURACUT TE solves several tasks at once. It mechanically disposes of and disrupts above-ground living and dead biomass of previous crops, volunteer plants and catch crops, where it is necessary to quickly limit plant regeneration and prepare the land for subsequent agrotechnical operations. This results in a clean cut and often longitudinal crushing, which increases the contact area for soil microorganisms and subsequently accelerates the decomposition of organic material.

In cereals and rapeseed, it shakes the volunteer seeds out of the straw and partially deposits them in the top layer of soil, promoting their emergence in a single wave and facilitating subsequent control. This limits the risk of dormant volunteer rapeseed seeds in the soil.

In maize, depending on soil and moisture conditions, the stems are broken or the plants are broken off with a small root remnant. In corn, the leaves and residues are evenly spread over the soil surface, which accelerates their decomposition.

The role of catch crops is also significant. Lying down and cutting reduces regeneration and creates ideal conditions for seeding into dead vegetation cover. However, it is then crucial to drive the seed drill in the direction of the lying down to limit clogging of the seed drill and create an even seeding bed.

A strong argument in favour of DURACUT TE is its anti-erosion effect. During rotation, the blades gently loosen the top layer of soil without creating a sharp transition line between the loosened and unloosened parts. Plant residues left on the surface dampen the kinetic energy of rain, preventing water erosion and clogging of infiltration pores. Shallow mulching and even distribution of mulch reduce soil moisture evaporation and promote water retention on the land, while protecting the soil in front of degradation processes.

The machine is built on a robust frame that creates high and even pressure on the individual rollers and allows working speeds of up to 25 km/h to be achieved. Two side folding frames reduce the number of hydraulic cylinders and thus the number of lubrication points. The DURACUT TE is therefore very easy to operate. In addition, the independent suspension of each roller ensures excellent terrain contouring even in uneven conditions.

The timing of the intervention and the machine settings influence the final effect. When the soil is very wet or when processing wet material, the cutting efficiency decreases. In such situations, increasing the weight by adding water ballast helps. It is also important to reduce the pressure in the tractor tyres to limit the pressing of plants into the wheel tracks. When seeding into dead vegetation cover, it is essential to guide the seed drills in the direction of the fall.
