TILLCUT TE: fast processing of oilseed rape stubble

The TILLCUT TE cutting rollers demonstrated on oilseed rape stubble near Kietrz in Poland that crop residues can be processed quickly, effectively and at very low operating cost. In lighter soils, the regular action of the cutting blades was clearly visible, intensively cutting the oilseed rape stems and distributing them evenly across the surface.

Thorough cutting of crop residues is important for their subsequent decomposition. At the same time, TILLCUT TE performs only very shallow vertical tillage. This avoids unnecessary disturbance of the soil profile and helps preserve capillarity. Biomass left on the surface also reduces water evaporation and protects the soil from overheating.

In the field near Kietrz, the rollers worked at approximately 25 km/h, while fuel consumption during this specific demonstration was approximately 2 l/ha. High working speed is one of the key advantages of this technology.

The result was clearly visible on the oilseed rape stubble. The blades created a uniformly cut layer of crop residues without the need for intensive cultivation of the entire soil profile. The cutting roller design uses an aggressive V-shaped blade arrangement, which increases the cutting effect and also supports self-cleaning of the roller.

Under the conditions of this demonstration, TILLCUT TE provided higher-quality processing of oilseed rape stubble at lower cost than mulching. At the same time, it was a significantly faster and more economical option than a subsequent pass with a tine cultivator or disc cultivator when the main objective is primarily to cut residues, stimulate volunteers and conserve soil moisture.
