STRIP-MASTER EN As a Tool for Soil Protecting Technologies
The strip-till soil cultivation has its roots in the USA, where it was introduced at the end of the 1990s. The technology promises interesting agronomic benefits: for example, protection of soil from water and air erosion, reduction of the risk of soil moisture evaporation, lower number of passes across the field, as well as higher cost savings in terms of targeted application of mineral fertilizers or manure in strips.
The innovated STRIP-MASTER EN cultivator is coming with a series of technical improvements in 2021
Technology Suitable for Wide-Row Crops
This technology is mostly suitable for cultivating fields before planting wide-row crops, such as maize, sunflower, oilseed rape, soya or sugar beet. Those are mostly crops that are planted in spring. So, the soil is usually cultivated in autumn. Such prepared strips allow for faster warm-up and crop establishment in spring. However, we can also see this technology used for establishing maize crops after the harvest of cereal crop mixtures, or for establishing oilseed rape crops after cereal harvest.
The uncultivated inter-row space creates favourable soil climate and contributes to maintaining soil moisture in the field
It is recommended to use GPS navigation to create consecutive passes
The seeds are placed in strips and inter-row space is created between the individual strips. The inter-row space usually contains some post-harvest residue that creates a cover of the uncultivated strips in the field. That reduces the evaporation of soil moisture. The crop residue in the inter-row space also provide a barrier against the spread of weeds.
STRIP-MASTER EN by BEDNAR Is a Solution
The BEDNAR brand offers the STRIP-MASTER EN cultivator in the category of strip-till cultivation machines. STRIP-MASTER EN processes soil in strips of 75 cm, 70 cm, 50 cm and 45 cm at a depth of up to 25 cm. The inter-row spacing is easy to change.
The individual working units are suspended on a parallelogram for excellent terrain tracing
The inter-row spacing can be chosen according to the crop to be seeded between 45 and 75 centimetres
The STRIP-MASTER EN has a robust frame where the individual working units are mounted. Each working unit is mounted on a parallelogram for perfect terrain tracing. The working unit consists of cutting discs that cut the crop residue. They are followed with cleaning discs. Those remove the crop residue from the strips. The strips of soil are cultivated by tillers. The tillers can be equipped with an application end piece as it is convenient to apply mineral fertilizer, manure or digestate into the strips while cultivating soil with this technology. The crumbling rollers provide the finishing process by crumbling large clods and compacting the soil to prevent evaporation of soil moisture.
Fundamental Innovation for 2021
The innovated STRIP-MASTER EN machine is 100% designed by BEDNAR and it does not use the working units by Yetter. The fundamental innovation of the this machine for 2021 is the hydraulic protection of the loosening knives mounted on the individual working units. An important improvement of the machine is the option to change the inter-row spacing within the interval from 45 to 75 cm.
In combination with front FERTI-BOX FB_F, STRIP-MASTER EN represents a perfect combination suitable for the initial soil cultivation before planting wide-row crops
Fertilizer may also be applied using the COMBO-SYSTEM CS storage hopper to improve the capacity or for aggregation with tractors without the front three-point linkage
