BEDNAR Awarded the First Agritechnica Medal in the Czech Republic

BEDNAR Awarded the First Agritechnica Medal in the Czech Republic

Agritechnica is a synonym of innovations in agriculture. The best agricultural innovations from all over the world are assessed by a jury, consisting of experts selected by DLG (German Association for Agriculture), each year before Agritechnica starts. The best of the best accept the award on the first day of the fair at an official announcement of winners. This year, a manufacturer from the Czech Republic has been awarded for the very first time – the BEDNAR Company. The jury awarded the Company a silver medal for its CULTI CAM – the camera for guiding the inter-row cultivator in row crop cultures.

Together with the growing demands and stricter legislation concerning the use of chemical preparations for crop protection, new and innovative methods of mechanical cultivation are being researched. This method can be used both in special crop growths or organic farms and in conventional farming. “Our sales of inter-row cultivators have been stable, namely in the Czech Republic and in France. In the coming years, we are expecting a high increase in mechanical cultivation of wide-row crops in other countries as well,” says Jan Bednář, the Sales and Marketing Manager of BEDNAR.

The Claas Company together with BEDNAR, a Czech manufacturer, and a group of other companies developed a new 3D camera with high resolution for inter-row cultivator guidance. The camera analyses the structure of leaves in the rows based on their colouring and spatial volume. The software is capable of identifying the rows of crops based on a thorough analysis and to precisely calculate control signals, even in windy conditions, in vegetation with a high rate of weeds and plants that are not green. The new camera system thus achieves a higher level of accuracy, even in complicated conditions, and thus allows for a higher working speed that increases daily output. “It is a historical success for Czech agriculture. We are greatly honoured. It is another step to achieving our corporate vision,” he adds.
