Last year, BEDNAR introduced a new model series of wide-span disc cultivators: SWIFTERDISC XE_MEGA. This model series is based on time-tested SWIFTERDISC models and \u2018MEGA\u2019 means that it offers the maximum working width of up to 18.4 metres. The first XE_MEGA was delivered to our customer in Latvia last year. The SWIFTERDISC XE_MEGA<\/a> disc cultivator was purchased for two affiliated companies: Agrofirma Jelgava SIA (founded in 1995) and Agrofirma Zelta Druva SIA (founded in 1992). Both companies manage an area of 5,200 hectares together; it is located in the Zemgalska region, near the town of Jelgava (40 km from the capital city of Riga).<\/p>\n \u201cWe grow wheat and rapeseed, both summer and winter crops, and peas or beans. We had to start using high-performance tractors with corresponding tools in the last decade due to the unstable conditions when all the operations must be done in the shortest time possible. The average hourly output is 20 ha\/h, fuel consumption is about 5 l\/ha in relation to the conditions. The average working speed of the machine is about 12 km\/h, which the customer found satisfactory in terms of stability, adherence to the set working depth and adequate fuel consumption. The SWIFTERDISC XE_MEGA cultivator is robust, highly productive and does excellent work in extremely dry conditions.
