This year, we delivered the first French 4-meter foldable chisel plough TERRALAND TN4000HD9, in the North of the country. \u201cThanks to my grain cooperative, Un\u00e9al, I recently entered into on a process of soil revitalization, in order to store and sell carbon. We then thought about developing new and more sustainable practices, while maintaining our production objectives. We are cropping in a region with high yield potential, but our soils have been affected by compaction caused by agricultural machinery. Through this approach, we have made several changes on our farm. We have introduced a product to revitalize our soils. It increases the sequestration of organic carbon into the soil, improves nutrient availability for crops, and increases soil porosity. I also needed to help my soil to mechanically transform itself, so I started to think about new tillage methods.<\/p>\n
For instance, we have introduced a liquid chemical product that fixes atmospheric nitrogen, to make it available for the crop, and helps to sequestrate the carbon. However, this commitment also required us to review our working methods more in depth. \u201cWe had never had a chisel plough in the past and it\u2019s true that our soils suffer from compaction. During rainy periods, it is not uncommon to see puddles appearing on the surface of our fields, because the soil has lost permeability over the years. With our carbon approach, we carried out compaction diagnostics which highlighted this problem. To meet this need, we turned to our dealer, CASA Services, who recommended us the TERRALAND TN4000 HD9<\/a>. \u201cWith this investment, we intend to completely review our tillage practices. We have equipped our chisel plough with wings to reduce the number of passes over our lands. Thus, we cultivate in depth, at 30 centimetres, thanks to the point, and we prepare the seedbed on the 10 first centimetres with the wings ideally placed. Then, the spiked roller effectively refines and levels the surface, leaving an ideal seedbed. \u00bb Julien commented.<\/p>\n After this first BEDNAR machine, the farmer decided to continue with the BEDNAR brand in renewing his old seed drill, from a competitor brand. He thus purchased an OMEGA OO4000 FERTI, equipped with two sections of aggressive discs, at the front, a section of PROFI coulters and a seeding bar with an inter-row spacing of 16.7 cm. With this seed drill, the farmer wants to reduce his tillage by seeding after his TERRALAND chisel plough or directly after ploughing.
