BEDNAR FMT completed the latest phase of the production plant construction in Rychnov nad Kněžnou in 2020.

BEDNAR has completed the last phase of the production plant construction in Rychnov nad Kněžnou in 2020. It was the most extensive and expensive investment of the Company ever. The construction included a two-storey assembly hall “F” with a floor space of 13,589 m2. The top floor is used for all pre-assemblies of components and sub-assemblies, the ground floor is used for the final assembly of machines that are inspected there and palletized for transport as required.

BEDNAR has completed the last phase of the production plant construction in Rychnov nad Kněžnou in 2020.
In 2020, we also finished the construction of the dispatch hall “G” and adjacent roads.

The construction also included an office space for the production plant management, social facilities with changing rooms for the employees, storage areas, technical rooms, distribution substations, and more. The paint shop (Hall CDE) is now connected with the new assembly hall via an inter-level automatic conveyor with a storage zone on the top floor and an assembly area for painted parts below the paint shop. The direct connection of the transport of parts from the paint shop to the assembly hall eliminated the otherwise complicated and demanding transport of parts, and also reduced the risk of damage. The capacity of the new production hall considerably exceeds our original capacity and allows us to work with a high efficiency in a two-shift operation.

In 2020, we also finished the construction of the dispatch hall “G” and adjacent roads. It is another important logistics hub between the production and consumers. For a long time, this part had not been modernized in any way to contribute to increasing the dispatching capacity and to improve the working conditions and occupational health and safety. We expect that this investment, in addition to the aforesaid, will maintain a stable passage through the dispatch under any weather conditions and will help cover the increased dispatching demands during the main season.

Other projects that BEDNAR has decided to implement in 2020 include the reconstruction of Hall “A”
The last project in this large investment phase in 2020 is the connection of the production plant to the main road, which includes the construction of a merging lane, the main arrival gate for deliveries to the production plant, a parking lot for trucks, and the final greening of this part of the premises.

Other projects that BEDNAR has decided to implement in 2020 include the reconstruction of Hall “A” that will be rebuilt for the operation of a semi-automatic warehouse. Using a storage map and automatic truck navigation to locations will considerably improve the efficiency of the process of acceptance and release of low-cost and pallet goods. The issuance of material will be optimized to meet the needs of the new assembly hall, making the future flows leaner. The current phase also included the installation of other tour routes and their connection to the existing footbridges.

The Company filled up the newly created capacity in two years and so a new project for further extension of assembly capacity and plant modernisation was assigned at the beginning of 2018. However, it was necessary to build a new storage hall with a higher capacity for storing machine components due to the increasing demand and production in 2017 and then to expand the parking area in 2018 to satisfy the increasing demand on short-term storage of completed machines, designated for dispatch. During 2018, the construction of the new dispatch hall and the connection of the production plant to the main road was commenced due to the continuously increasing demands on fast product dispatch.

Production is a live process that requires to continuously respond to any unexpected situations incurred and to the needs of the Company. One of such needs was launching production in the BEDNAR FMT Doudleby nad Orlicí plant at the end of 2017, which was primarily used for service and development purposes after the main plant in Rychnov nad Kněžnou was built. Thanks to the investments, the Company managed to reconstruct and equip one of the halls originally designed for storage and thus expand the number of assembly stations. The Doudleby Centre continues to provide the development and service activity and it is also responsible for a part of the production (small series) transferred from the Rychnov nad Kněžnou production plant.

Since we are aware that it is the customer who enables us to develop and manufacture agricultural machines, we have not only been investing into expanding the capacity for machine production, but also into customer care – such as spare parts deliveries. BEDNAR FMT increases investments into the spare parts inventory on a yearly basis. In mid-2018, it became necessary to completely separate the spare parts department and enable its further development due to the growing demands for storing spare parts and the ongoing construction of new halls in the main plant. Therefore, BEDNAR FMT established its third centre in Kostelec nad Orlicí, used as a central spare parts warehouse. The convenient location (accessibility to the main plant as well as major roads) and more than sufficient storage capacity will ensure better passage and availability of spare parts for the customers.

I believe that the aforementioned projects will significantly move us forward, giving us new possibilities, experience and also a commitment to do our best.
