STRIP-MASTER EN 6000: PROFI Design for Strip-Till Soil Cultivation
The strip-till soil cultivation technology is becoming more and more important. Whether we want it or not, this technology will soon become the primary technology for soil cultivation for wide-row crops, or for establishing crops in steep fields and fields at risk of erosion.
STRIP-TILL? Technology of the Near Future
The strip-till technology is soil-protecting technology that eliminates the risk of soil, wind and water erosion and reduces the risk of soil moisture evaporation. When compared with all-area cultivation, there is a large amount of organic matter in the field which improves water absorption into soil. An advantage is that it is possible to apply mineral or organic fertilizer in the form of liquid manure and digestate into the cultivated strips.
A few years ago, BEDNAR developed the STRIP-MASTER EN cultivator for this soil cultivation technology. Last year, the model was considerably innovated based on tests and in autumn 2020, the innovated version of the STRIP-MASTER EN, designated as 6000, was officially introduced.
PROFI Strip-Till Cultivator Design
The new STRIP-MASTER EN 6000 is own design by BEDNAR (when compared with the previous model, the new model does not use cultivation units by Yetter, a Canadian manufacturer). In addition to the new cultivation units, the new STRIP-MASTER EN 6000 offers a whole range of new possibilities.
When you look at the individual parts of the new machine, you will find the robust supporting frame where the individual cultivation units are mounted. The machine can be ordered with 8 or 12 cultivation units. This optional equipment enables the STRIP-MASTER EN 6000 to be used for work with inter-row spacing from 40 to 80 cm (soil cultivation for sugar beet, winter rapeseed, sunflower or corn).
Offset Layout? A Design for Processing Large Quantities of Crop Residue
The offset layout in the case of 12 cultivation units is a great advantage of the machine. When compared with similar machines without an offset layout, this one offers a much better throughput when working in wet and heavy conditions, or in conditions with large amounts of crop residue.
The change in the construction of the individual cultivation units is fundamental. The units are an original design by BEDNAR. The machine is now equipped with hydraulic protection of the cultivation knives with a tension fore of 750 kg to provide better work result, higher durability and comfortable operation. In the case of contact with an obstacle, the machine is lifted to avoid damage to the knives and then lowered down again. Each cultivation unit is also equipped with its own parallelogram that guarantees adherence to the set working depth and precise terrain tracing.
High Variability of Cultivation Unit Equipment
The cultivation unit of the STRIP-MASTER EN 6000 machine consists of the front cutting disc that prepares the groove for easy penetration of the cultivation knife into soil. The customer can choose from a straight, wavy or serrated cutting disc. The cutting discs are followed by cleaning discs that remove crop residue and other material from the groove line.
The hydraulically protected cultivation knife is surrounded by side guide discs that keep the cultivated strip of soil within the required width. The angle and the position of the guide discs can be easily set according to the current soil conditions. For reverse compaction and prevention of soil moisture evaporation, STRIP-MASTER EN 6000 can be fitted with a whole range of rear compacting packers. You can choose from several packer versions: slatted, chain, rubber-tyred or ring.
